Innovative Polymer Compounds Ltd

INNOVATIVE POLYMER COMPOUNDS (IPC) Limited is a specialist compounder of Medical Grade Engineering Polymers based in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath close to its Irish customer base of Medical Device manufacturers.

Its modern manufacturing facilities allow for industry leading delivery times as well as flexible small lot batches. Set up in 2008 and certified to ISO 9001, IPC processes polymers from Arkema, Lubrizol, BASF, EMS, DuPont, Evonik and Solvay.

The company performs its own colour matching using a base range of FDA approved pigments which achieves tighter and more consistent colour tolerances as well as short lead times for coloured compounds to Pantone, Munsell or RAL references.

The company is a joint venture company between a polymer compounding company (Associated Plastics of Ireland Ltd) and a polymer and chemicals distribution company (National Chemical Company Ltd). Both companies are well established, each with over 30 years experience in the polymer industry.

About Us

Innovative Polymer Compounds (IPC) is a joint venture between Associated Plastics of Ireland (API) www.api.ie and National Chemical Company (NCC) www.ncc.ie.

Our new state of the art compounding facility encompasses all of the features a customer would require of a 100K clean room, with accurate control of air quality, dust extraction and temperature control in each of our material process halls.

Facilities

All polymers are compounded in a class 100K clean room using a Leistritz twin screw extruder - a ZSE 27 MAXX – 40 L/D. This extruder is capable of outputs up to 120 kg per hour. The compounder is fed by four K-Tron gravimetric dosing units, each one capable of feeding granules or powders. The compound is then pelletised either via a Gala underwater pelletiser or a Rieter strand pelletiser.

Quality

At Innovative Polymer Compounds (IPC) our Quality Management System is the cornerstone of Medical Polymer Compounding. From materials management to key process parameters, customer care, research and development, all feed from our exacting standards and the company commitment to excel with all of the Medical Compounds we produce, and with the Medical Device Customers we serve. A wide range of materials testing is carried out to ISO and ASTM standards covering Mechancial / Colour / Ash Content / Tensile / Moisture Parameters. We are ISO9001:2008 certified as of Mid 2009.

Material

From the facility, which was set up in 2008 and is certified to ISO 9001, IPC processes a wide range of polymers on behalf of medical device manufacturers all over Europe. Polymers with which the company is most familiar include Arkema’s Rilsan, Pebax and Kynar, Lubrizol and BASF’s TPU’s, EMS’s Grilamid range, DuPont’s Surlyn, Evonik’s Vestamid and Solvay’s Solef and Hylar PVDF.
